Year 2009

A protection gear series developed for the Swedish brand Extrem ( Skigutane.) consisting of a back protector, helmet and goggles. The series received the prestigious Red Dot Award 2009.

Semi Hard Shell back protector
This Semi Hard Shell back protector is designed to be light weight, highly flexible and provide good protection. An average spine increases its length by 10 to 15 cm when twisting, stretching and compressing.

The Semi Hard Shell back protector is specially developed to adapt to these natural movements. The back protector is made out of shock absorbing impact foam, reinforced by a plastic hard shell in the most critical area.

Helmet
By using our unique patent pending manufacturing method, we have been able to combine in-mold and ABS helmet technology. This makes the “Cliff” helmet especially light weight, durable, and have no visible EPS.

The “Cliff” has integrated ventilation channels for better comfort and is designed to match the “President” Split Frame goggle which leaves no gaper gap.

Split frame goggle
The weather conditions change rapidly in the mountains. The need to replace goggle glass to compensate for these changes are crucial when skiing.

You can replace the glass on existing ski goggles, but it means that the user must take off the gloves, put on the lens and very carefully replace it. The consequence of this intricate process is usually no lens change at all. The most active skiers bring more sets of goggles.
One of the main goals of the development of the Split Frame Goggle was to find a way in which it would be easier to replace glass on the slopes without removing gloves or other equipment. This was solved by dividing the goggles in half by using an advanced snap function developed for this goggle. The front frame holding the glass is snapped together with the rear frame consisting of the strap.
The front frame has an intuitive "handle" that breaks the seal in the snap and allows the front frame with the glass to easily separate from the rear frame.
The glass / front frame can be replaced with mittens or gloves in the course of a few seconds.

Dividing the goggle into a front frame opens up for easy style change of the goggle. You can mix and match different glasses and colours easily. A total new shape and style of the front frame can be made by less than 1/3 of the investment of a whole new goggle. Skigutane can use the same base goggle for their different brands and still appear as they have a specific goggle only by changing the front frame.
